One of the lighthouse keepers of green point Lighthouse painted all the lighthouses around the Cape. You cannot see them very well here, but they are really nice paintings. I read a book about 50 years ago so it was when I was a child, a mystery surrounding a lighthouse, and I have been fascinated with lighthouses ever since

Such wonderful images, Dawn. :photos: Thank you so very much for posting them. :thankyou: This is going to be a really fantastic park when it is completed. These things do take time, don't they?? The grass looks as though they are trying to find the best grass to grow in that area. I like hearing foghorns too, although, while they do sound a wee bit mournful, there is, also, something comforting about them.

The lighthouse is a very attractive one, thanks for the link, too. I hear you about the stair-climbing. Ouch, oooh, phew. :faint:  Despite this, it must have been a lovely day out.

Thanks again, Dawn. :thanks: They are great. :cool3:

We really enjoyed it Pixie, it blew away some cobwebs :) Yes, I loved the wood fixtures too Pixie!, it has such a charm to as opposed to modern structures. Cape Town's older buildings still have a lot of their original fittings. I hope they are kept for many more years to come. :thanks:

There is no comparison between the work of the old master tradesmen to the modern day rubbish churned out .
Just see how long those old seasoned woods have lasted.
My grandfather was what was called a cabinet maker a specialised trade. We still have items he made in his early years and as good as the day he made them. He had a family of 12 children ,all the boys were given walking sticks he made and the girls jewelery boxes .I have my mothers jewelery box and my brother [he's 86] is now using the walking stick that was given to an uncle.
