Our echinopsis seminudus cactus had the first of its five flowers this morning. It lasted for only a few hours but this honey bee found it irresistible early in the morning. The bee was there for some time & thoroughly investigated every part of the flower centre. The flowers do have a lovely perfume to attract bees, but what for is a puzzle, as they don't set seed & propagate by growing pups.

Some more images of the busy little honey bee. It had been raining which is why there are raindrops on the flower's petals.

A few days ago the echinopsis seminudus had four flowers. Early in the morning there was just the one honey bee but, soon, the fragrance from the four flowers attracted some more bees to them. Had to stop taking pictures as they were flying all over the place.

This bee has laden pollen sacs.

Flying, just, between the two lots of flowers.
