This is another experiment to see if I can grow some dracaena surculosa punctulata "Sierra Leone" cuttings. Most dracaenas grow well from cuttings so, hopefully, this will be successful though they are rather tall cuttings. Did scrape a sliver of the skin off the bottom 2.5cms, or so, of the stems & dipped them into rooting hormone powder.

These pieces were cut from the tops of some very long stems which is why they have bent over tops. They were scraping the ceiling under upstairs' balcony. Maybe they will straighten up. If not, they will just have to look a wee bit quirky.

Here they are in their new home amongst the dracaena deremensis "Warneckii". So far, there has been no sign of any wilting & it has been a week since they were cut & potted.

These dracaena surculosa punctulata "sierra Leone" cuttings were eventually moved near the mandevillas which then started to overwhelm the cuttings as the mandevillas grew & grew. When I realised the cuttings were, finally, starting to sprout new leaf growth, I moved them away from the mandevillas & placed them out in the open, with the curcumas. It took them quite a few months to begin this growth. It does seem as though we have to be patient with these plants.

Over a year later & there has been a great deal happening. The dracaena surculosa punctulata "Sierra Leone" cuttings have finally grown some new stems There are two in this pic growing straight & slightly thicker than the cuttings. It has taken quite a while for this to happen. The same with the new leaf growth.

The dracaena surcuosa punctulata "Sierra Leone" cuttings finally started flowering &, shamefully, I never noticed it.  Here is one of the finished flowers. It would have flowered only about two night's ago or even yesterday.

Another dracaena surculosa punctulata "Sierra Leone" finished flower hiding. No wonder I didn't see them. The new shoot on the right is quite tall now.

An overall view of the dracaena surculosa punctulata "Sierra Leone" cuttings & how they have grown. They now have three shoots which have grown from their roots. These cuttings are slow to get established but are now going strong.

This is most unusual. These flowers on the dracaena surculosa punctulata "Sierra Leone" cuttings are growing straight off the stem instead of from the ends of leafed branches.
