During April & May of this year ~ 2009 ~ we had three severe east coast depressions which brought destructive winds & torrential rain. Despite the ground, where we live, being sand based, which normally promotes rapid drainage, it was so waterlogged that the last big storm caused flooding, even in our village. We don't normally experience flooding as we are right by the ocean. Our backyard flooded to our backdoor & was within an inch of coming inside.

These three images are snapshots from a movie taken of the flooding in our yard & its encroachment on to our back patio..

THese images were taken on the same day as the ones in the previous post. After several days of being pounded by a severe storm, as a result of these east coast depressions, this day was a welcome relief from all the noise of the screaming wind & heavy rain. Many people took advantage of this to get out of their homes for a while. This respite didn't last & the storm returned, that evening, with renewed energy.

These images were taken at the Boat Harbour reserve. It did look strange to see seagulls swimming, where there is normally grass.

It sure was quite a flood for us as it NEVER floods where we live. Well, not usually.

Hey, Tyler, those are seagulls trying out some fresh water for a change. :D The pics with the seagulls were taken down at our local boat harbour reserve which is normally a lovely grassy park.
