This past winter has been very so so for colourful sunsets. We haven't had one since the middle of June 2009, as our winter was very dry with few clouds. Clouds seem to be a requisite for a decent sunset. Here are some images from back then.

Your comment on clouds and sunsets is so true. Without the presence of cloud there is no drama or character to a sunset eh!. Those colours are so striking!. A sunset is like a huge giant stage curtain that decends at the closing of the days end. Hows that for drama . Maybe we should clap for an encore, if the day was a nice warm sunny one, the day might oblige and reappear.

You are very poetic, Dawn. ;) We usually get our most vivid & striking sunsets after, or even during, a storm. For some reason we haven't had a colourful sunset for a year now. Even storms haven't caused such brilliant displays.

Last winter was mostly sunny with clear skies which resulted in those "nothing" sort of sunsets, then we had all the dust storms which, I think, blew away all the red dust in the atmosphere. The inland regions are all green, too, which may make a difference, as well.
