    default Dust Storm

Just over a week ago a huge red dust storm swept in from the far west of the state of NSW, covering a large swathe of our coastal regions. The distance travelled by this storm was immense, well over a 1000kms & would have been about the same distance wide. The city of Sydney was badly affected & was practically brought to a standstill, due the lack of visibility. When it eventually arrived here, later in the morning, it was eerily beautiful but dangerous. We closed ourselves into our home &, thankfully, did not need to leave it that day.

The next day, our plants were covered in red dirt. Even the car in the garage was coated. It easily washed off thank goodness. Many of the trees & shrubs growing in the yard &, elsewhere, really need a good rain shower to become clean again.

    The beginning.

    A few minutes later.

Twenty minutes later. Still getting thicker.

Starting to abate. Over five hours later.

Early evening, two hours after the last pic. The colour has gone from the dust, even though it's still the same old red dust, as the sun has set.
