There are five buds, so far, which have appeared & will, probably, open tomorrow. There are two buds in this image.

My camera is going to be running hot, as will the delete button.

Here is the pic of the, what we thought was the sixth Brazilian Walking iris bud, which had been hiding under the petals of one of yesterday's flowers. It has flowered today.

 do you think they are called walking iris' because of there habit of branching out all over?

Exactly, Dawn. :D The plants that will, eventually, grow at the ends of those long flowering stems develop roots. Then they secure themselves to the ground & grow, thus "walking". The stem, after several months, detaches from the parent plant & the new plants then have to look after themselves. It is a really :cool3: plant.

Here are some images of today's eight Brazilian Walking irises. The perfume on the back patio was wonderful.

The first image is of the "lantern" effect of a bud that is starting to open.

Starting to open. This is the second flower on this one stem. It also flowered yesterday. The old flower can be seen on the new flower's left, as a little stripey ball.

Yes I see it the previuous bud you mentioned I mean! Joy do they open quicker if the weather is hotter?.

I had a cup of gold that you could literally watch opening when it was really warm. In approx five mins it had gone from a bud to a completely open flower! So I was wondering how long this takes once it starts to open? Most amazing little shape before it opens up too!

Think this one was eaten by a blue-tongued lizard. They are partial to flowers & it was down near the ground.

Weather doesn't seem to have much bearing on their opening, Dawn. The two yesterday took longer to open than these eight & it was warmer. They open pretty quickly once they get going. It is only twenty four hours from the time a bud begins to emerge to its actual opening. They grow so quickly. Guess it is because they are so short lived. They die off more quickly if it is hot. Last year when we had the awful dust storms they opened & closed up early, before the dust arrived.
