Meanwhile on our front patio. While I was in hospital earlier last year the winter temps were very cool & our poor Homalocladium platycladum “Bad Hair Day plant. appeared dead when I came home in early August 2015, It was completely brown & crispy.  Actually a similar thing happened to the Kentia palm. So I pruned all the dark brown palm fronds as well as the dead foliage on the Homalocladium platycladum “Bad Hair Day plant. Thought the palm might recover as there were two new fronds sprouting but kept my fingers crossed for the Homalocladium platycladum “Bad Hair Day plant. It was a huge relief when new green shoots started sprouting from the bare sticks. They are still sprouting & growing. The Parlour palm is also looking much better since being repotted & being given some soil.

Here is a photo taken from same spot a month ago. Not much has changed.
Homalocladium platycladum "Bad Hair Day Plant". Great to see how well it has recovered after seemingly being dead after our cold winter. All of its foliage had turned brown & crispy so I pruned them off & crossed my fingers. It was a wonderful feeling to see the green shoots appear then grow. Still more happening. Same with the kentia palm beside it. Its fronds were dark brown & looked awful but fortunately its new fronds were growing okay so I removed the brown ones. The parlour palm is also recovering afer being repotted. It was in a pot which had no soil in  it. Somehow it had washed out.  It was all just a rootball.
