Here are some of the sights I saw during the tour's stay in Penang. Sorry about the quality of some of the photos though there was a haze present which did contribute in some of the pics. Penang was tropical & very pretty. We, probably, should have spent more time there. But........

The first two images were taken from my room, at the Golden Sands Hotel, & are of the sun going down, very quickly.

Another setting sun view. Across the road, early in the morning, there is a daily fresh food market where fruit & veggies that have just been picked are sold. Most locals buy their food daily so it is always fresh. After a couple of hours there is no sign, from my room at least, that there was ever a market on site.

The tour group was taken to visit a small Malay kampong, or village. Penang, in common with Singapore, has three major ethnic groups ~ Malays, Chinese & Indian. They all contribute, in their own fashion, to a wonderful mix of customs & beliefs. Especially with food & restaurants.

We saw women sweeping the ground to keep it neat & tidy & also, to stop dust flying about. It looked as if it was done daily.

We were invited to go into a home to see how they were on the inside but I felt awkward doing that so didn't do so. The kampong was recompensed for allowing tourists to see how they lived but, I still didn't want to intrude.

Me & a pile of coconuts. Bought this dress on the Batu Ferringhi Beach in front of the hotel. It proved to be extremely comfortable.

With some of the local children. The boy on the back left was in the tour group.

A very hazy view of some of Georgetown, the capital of Penang, from the top of Penang Hill, 2500ft high.

Part of the pool complex. The pool was more comfortable to swim in as the water was cooler than the beach which was close to body temp & wasn't very refreshing.

Probably did spend more time at the pool than on the beach while there.
