Thanks so much Joy!  What a beautiful country.  The rolling hills was wonderful.  So nice to see some farms with the cows.
I love macadamia nut.  So nice to see so many trees.  I wonder how they pick all the nuts.
The buyna pines were beautiful.  Do you have many in your town?
The knight was such a nice surprise.
Thank you so much and looking forward to more!!

    Thanks Granny.  :D

Macadamias are harvested off the ground when they fall. They have really hard, thick shells which enable them to be swept up by special machines. The grass under the trees is kept short & neat to make it easier to harvest the nuts.

We don't have many bunya pines in our village but they are plentiful further inland. They are native to North Queensland & have been naturalised in our region. The bunya is in the same small family as the wonderful Wollemi pine, the Norfolk Island pine, the NZ kauri, & the South American monkey puzzle pine.

This marks the boundary of NSW & Qld. It is apparently an exhaust for the de-salination plant nearby.

Heading south back home. That bare patch of earth was part of a banana plantation & till recently was terraced to hold worksite offices & sheds for this part of the Ewingsdale-Tintenbar bypass construction project possibly for the tunnel. It has now been returned to its previous contour & will, no doubt, become covered in banana trees again.

It's amazing just what goes into a major road construction such as this one.

So good Joy, thank you!!  How long will it take for the banana trees to grow back?  I wonder if the farmers ever get upset with road construction.  The road is looking great.  They are really working hard on it.
The tall structure (post 35) made me think of the game Jenga.
      It was so nice!
Nice homes in the last picture.
Thank you again,  I enjoyed every picture!!

    :thankyou:  Thanks, Granny.

The banana grower & others whose land has been resumed for the bypass construction would have been reasonably well paid, I'd imagine. They would have known about it for quite some time. At least the banana grower only lost the use of his small block for a relatively short time. Bananas are an annual crop & the trees don't take long to grow. Only months. In fact they can become a weed if left to their own devices. Very difficult to eradicate.  :whack!:  :whack!:  :whack!:

That structure is very unusual & certainly eye-catching.  :lol3:

    Wonderful Joy!  I really enjoyed.
:lol2: It is hard to imagine bananas growing like a weed.  I wish we had them were I live.  Thanks again!!

    Thank you Granny.

Never really took any pics of the banana trees that grew like weeds in the backyard of our unit complex as they looked so scraggly but found one taken of a dawn which showed them. The main group of banana trees has since been chopped down & the suckers that popped up several feet away in an abandoned garden space have been left. It took over a year of Bruce stomping on the new plants popping up to et rid of the main bunch.    :whack!:  :whack!:  :whack!:

The part we like about living here, Granny, is there aren't any frosts.   The flying foxes get any of the bananas that grow on the trees.  :lol3:
