Earlier this week we had to travel to Brisbane, Queensland about 220kms north of our home in NSW. Bruce needed to purchase some computer parts so took this opportunity to go to one of his favourite computer parts outlets. We had to travel through the part of the CBD which is on the bank of the Brisbane River.

Here are some views I took of this area while we were driving through.

Must be a fire somewhere in the hills. That wheel is on the Southbank of the Brisbane River. We are on the other side.

Have no idea what this building is but it is certainly old & would be some sort of state building. It doesn't look like the state parliament building.

There are dams, Granny, but sometimes there is even too much rainfall for the huge Wivenhoe Dam to cope with plus there is the torrential rain from cyclones coming in from Moreton Bay.  This is something the Brisbanites have to live with

Here is an image I took of an older "Queenslander" house, in the inner city area, which was situated halfway up a hill but was still built to avoid flooding & to facilitate cooling breezes. Many of similar houses, on hillsides, were inundated during the last major flooding in 2011.

  I really like the Queenslander house.  Did  the flood ruin many homes in 2011?  That would be so awful!!  The water has to be disgusting.  Thanks for the picture.   Granny
