Recently Bruce & I had a family event to attend at Port Kembla in the Illawarra region of NSW, south of Sydney. It is over 1000kms south of where we live in the Northern Rivers of NSW. Unfortunately, there were also a few other events being held in the area at the time & the only place we could find reasonably priced motel accommodation was 50kms south of Port Kembla at Kiama. This was fortuitous as it is a very attractive coastal tourist town & it was the first time I had ever been there. Bruce visited it as a young child. It has changed a great deal since then.  :lol3:

While we didn't spend much time here & was unable to take in all its sights, I did manage to take a few pictures of some of its delights.

Approaching Kiama. It is very late afternoon.

A war memorial. Most likely erected after World War I.

This a railway bridge used by electrically-powered commuter trains. Obviously built before the trucks of today were envisaged.

Sun nearly gone. There some really old (for Australia) buildings in Kiama. This one would most likely be a pub. They were usually built on pride-of-place corner sites.

The next morning. Sun is just coming up. Taken through the sea air-misted motel room's window. A football paddock & a beach.

Oops, must have just driven over one of the weird speed bumps they have here. Not only are they a bump in the road but have cobblestone-type pavers on each side. They are also a pedestrian crossing & really shake your brain around inside your noggin when you drive over them.
