A bevy of ballerinas. "White Fantasy" zygo - schlumbergera truncata - flowers. These are the brown rot survivors so it is worthwhile trying to save them.

:good: So beautiful Joy!  I am so glad you didn't just throw them out after the brown rot.  Your green thumb did a great job saving them.  The salmon color makes a great splash of color mixed with the white.  Thanks for posting the pictures!

:thanks:  Granny.  Yes, we are very pleased with how the schlumbergera truncata plants survived the brown rot. Some didn't but the survivors have grown well & have filled out the container.  :bravo: The old unknown is the real survivor sa we have had it for 26 years & it almost disappeared in a large container which had been taken over by maidenhair fern. It died off & we found a snail-chewed skinny single stem in amongst the remnants. For a few seasons it only ever had one deformed flower. I repotted it &, to protect it as the snails seemed to love it, we brought it inside for quite a while. Took some time, but it eventually re-established enough to be put outside again. It is now actually only about six inches from where it had been when inside.  :lol3: We are thrilled at how well it has grown & flourished.  :excited:

As for the salmon-coloured ones, they are a real anomaly. One of this coloured flowers appeared a few seasons ago & it was on a branch of a "White Fantasy" plant which was also growing the white flowers. The numbers of these flowers has grown but it remains a conundrum.  :??:    :huh2:

Here is where the old, unknown variety zygo disappeared for ages.

Thanks Granny.    Yes, it was a stunning maidenhair fern & we were sorry when it died off. It originally grew from spore which was blown in by the wind & decided the zygo's pot was a good place to set root. Then it just grew & grew until it was a huge plant.  :bravo:

The "Strawberry Fantasy" zygo - schlumbergera truncata - has put on a wonderful display this year. There were more of its flowers than the "White Fantasy" for a change. These are just some of them.

Our beautiful zygo - schlumbergera truncata - flowers are coming to an end. It's sad to see them all looking droopy & falling off. This "White Fantasy" is one of the few newly opened flowers left & is a much deeper pink than it appears here. All the flowers on the brown rot survivors have all turned deep pink including the wilting ones which were a pale pink when first opened.  :???:

This "White Fantasy' zygo - schlumbergera truncata - is also a much deeper pink than the coloration the camera captured.
