This is late autumn & it's school holiday time in NSW. Visitors enjoying the low tide fun tha can be had on the huge sandbanks of the Evans River.

These images were taken from our table at the Riverside Kiosk where Bruce & I were having lunch.

It it is a nice spot, Dawn & is very popular with both locals, tourists & day trippers.

The town has been chock-a-block with tourists for the past few weeks, It starts with the Queenslanders whose school holidays begin a week before NSW & they come in their thousands. By the time the NSW holidaymakers & those from other states arrive the place is bursting at the seams.

These pics were taken after the Qlders had gone home, so there are still plenty of tourists around.

PS Dawn, being the avid fisherperson you are, you may be interested to see a guy, in a straw hat, white shirt & black shorts, on the edge of the sandbank who is using a yabby pump to suck up sand worms & yabbies to use as bait. The pumps look like large bike tyre pumps & are a very popular tool for those who go fishing for fun.  :fish:  Am surprised there are still some critters available for the sucking up with the amount of people who use these pumps.  :o

A small section of the swimmers at Main Beach. The surf lifesavers are still on patrol as the flags are up. This was taken hurriedly, through a gap in the hillside scrub, (the only spot you can see the beach from the road) as we drove down the hill from Razorback Lookout.

Yes I would believe you! but not if you didn't tell me ;) . How lucky to have those lovely trees to shade a whole town like that  :) .

No shading of the town, Dawn, just obstructing the ocean views much to the chagrin of some.   Most people don't care about that. One can always buy a house up on the hill.  :lol3:  Many of the littoral trees are growing in a littoral wetland which is fed by large stormwater drains from the main town area. The water eventually percolates through the sand dunes into the ocean as clean water. Nifty, eh.  :cool4:

The frogs love it, too, Dawn. Once I saw a big brolga bird (a real rarity) lazily flying towards these wetlands. There isn't much exposed water as these wetlands are full of water-loving trees & plants.

Well, this particular holiday season has ended with rain & everyone has gone home. Now the grey nomads & other tourists will start to arrive. It's never-ending.

School holidays are over but there is still plenty of holiday-makers in the so-called "off" season in our town. The tourists come here all year round now.
