Thought it might be, Glad. A perfectionist is ideal for such projects. It will be terrific when finally finished.  :D

    Thanks Dawn.

Clean up will begin this coming week if the cooler weather comes.

My late garden did not survive the heat.  There may not be time to plant anything else but I may try sowing lettuce again.

Kinda wish the green house was done but I understand why it is not.

That is a shame, Glad. Hopefully you may get some lettuce. Are there any quick growing late veggies you may be able to start, I wonder? Still, your garden has done you proud this summer.  :D

It is ok Joy and Granny.  I did work hard on one section today cleaning it. Will do one section at a time.

The temp is a wonderful 72 at 4:45 in the afternoon.  So I am very happy.  It should be a nice week coming up so will get a lot of clean up done.

I am getting ready to go out and plant more lettuce just to see if it will make it.

Planted more lettuce, spinach, radishes.  There are a few places of lettuce from the other planting so watered that.  Watered the okra and beans but beans are looking bad.  Still blooms so maybe there will be enough to pick a few for while longer.

Began another section of cleaning but had to stop.  Another day for that.

I have enough okra today to freeze for winter soup.  So that is good.

I am not ready for winter but sure like cooler temps.

The temp now is 67 which is far from the 47 they thought we might get.

    Rain was nice too.

Sounds like hard work, Glad. Here in drought-prone Australia, gardeners tend to mulch in spring to help the soil retain moisture, impede weed growth & help keep it cooler over summer. The reverse of protecting it from the cold.

Your garden has done you proud.  :D

I hope the winter is kinder this year for a number of reasons.

My daughter will be traveling about 100 miles one way to receive treatments.  Part of the treatments can be done locally but others will require the travel to the major hospital treating her.

I need to order mulch.  If I don't order it then my job will be light this fall.  Actually I could get by without it this year but rather keep the soil built up.

We hope you will have a more moderate winter, Glad, too, especially if your daughter has to travel so far for her treatments. Bruce & I know all about that but at least we do not have to contend with snow or black ice on roads. We wish her safe travel.

Have to look after that wnderful veggie garden of yours, too. I'm sure the soil will be happier for some more mulching. The TLC is certainly is paying off.

    Thank you all!

The surgery was done last Monday.  Friday she received the reports.  No cancer in lump-node.  The mass was removed but they could not get as much of the tissue surrounding the mass they wanted because of location near the chest cavity.  So there will be radiation 5 days a week for ?? weeks. And they decided the treatments cannot be done locally because of not getting the amount of tissue surrounding where the mass was. Hoping for good travel conditions this time of year.  About a 2 hour drive one way.
