The skeletal looking trees with masses of leaves growing straight off their branches instead of at the ends of them, as is usual, are ones that are recovering from a bushfire that swept through the area a few months before. This is how adaptable the Australian eucalypts are. Some trees managed to escape the fire thanks to the efforts of the volunteer firemen/women. When the trees have recovered those leaves will drop off & the tree will look normal again.

This is the Pacific Highway. B-Double trucks must have fun negotiating such bridges built in the horse & cart days (or early in the motoring era).

On the last leg of our journey home north on the Pacific Highway. Fairly early in the morning. Overcast, dark & dismal. Looks like rain.

A blurred pic of a Moreton Bay Fig shade tree with cattle taking advantage of its widespread shade area. Of course we were travelling at 100kph.

This is beef & dairy cattle country. Coming back on to the Pacific Highway after utilising a wonderful shortcut which bypasses the busyness of Grafton. We're now in the Northern Rivers region about 100kms from home.

More of the lovely greenery. Not all are eucalypts but are mix of trees native to the area.

Approaching the Harwood Lifting Bridge over the Clarence River. Bruce has trawled for school prawns on this river.

Yet another of the Safe-T-Cams which average the speed & distance travelled by large trucks. State govt is thinking of applying it to cars as well, as if speed cameras weren't enough.
