The adenium obesum has quickly returned to its warm weather flowering mode of brighter & wider petalled flowers. The sparse & thin petalled flowers of winter are all but gone.

Woohoo!!!!  :apgw:  :excited: A seedpod has grown from one of the flowers on our adenium obesum plant. This is a first for us. Strangely, it wasn't noticed until it was this big. Each "arm" of the seedpod is already 9cms long.  :bravo:

After Googling for info about the adenium obesum seedpods we found that the pods needed to be secured so that the seeds don't blow away when they burst open so a couple of ties were twined around them. Hope that will work.

The adenium obesum seedpod has been sitting there quietly seemingly doing nothing except grow another centimetre then today it started to split. Luckily it has the ties wrapped around the pods.

The adenium obesum seedpods opened today. We removed the seeds from this pod. One blew away & the rest we scooped out. Kept about 20 to plant. The rest were put in our garbage bin as we live in an area with two national parks & as these seeds seem to be able to travel for quite some distance I didn't want to risk any of them taking root in one of the parks.

The adenium obesum seeds minus their wings. They come off very easily. Have a suspicion their fluffy wings are designed to eventually fall off in flight & the seed drops to the ground. They are planted flat which is how they would land in nature, I would imagine.

Shall plant them in seed-raising mix in a seed tray & see what happens.  :luck:

Meantime, here are some pretty autumn flowers on the adenium obesum.
