While our beautiful dracaena surculosa punctulata "Sierra Leone" had a mass flowering 14 months ago, there wasn't as many as there were last week. It was totally covered in flowers & buds. Usually, it just has one, two or three flowers growing at a time so tjhese mass flowerings are a mystery to me.

When the flowers finally started to open the fragrance wafting through the kitchen window was wonderful. For some reason the flowers seemed to last a bit longer than the usual few hours & some were starting to open during the day rather than at night, as is the norm.

The sam three flowers taken a few hours later during the night & more of the individual flowers on each flower had opened.

There were buds everywhere. Never saw all of them as they were around the side, back or under leaves, as shown here.

A glimpse of some of the many flowers & buds on part of our wonderful dracaena surculosa punctulata "Sierra Leone". This mass flowering has been amazing especially as many of the flowers either opened during the day or stayed open for a couple of days instead of dying off within a few hours.

More of the flowers & buds further down the plant. The height of our dracaena surculosa punctulata "Sierra Leone" is restricted as it can only grow as high as the ceiling below the upstairs balcony but it does bend its stems, at a right angle, so that they grow along the ceiling or arch over. They can be several feet in length.

Thanks Jan, yes, it is an amazing plant. Here is a link to another thread which has all the info on our wonderful dracaena surculosa punctulata "Sierra Leone". It has grown considerably in height, since the first pics of it were taken.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

We have had it for 23 years & it would have been about 3 years old when we bought it. It had a hard life for many years, for various reasons, but it survived against all odds & is one of our favourites. This plant is now, apparently, rather rare or so I have heard so we treasure it.

good job!my mother used to have that in our garden but whenever we have visitors kids play around and destroy it so it didn't grow like that. I never imagine it will become that beautiful.

That is a shame, Krocker. It is a beautiful plant which is fairly hardy but probably would have difficulties in weathering damage from kids playing. Hope it recovers.

Sadly, it didn't recover it happened long time ago... mom bought new one and make sure kids won't play around the garden. It look good last time I visited I'll share some photos when I visit mom. It's not as tall as yours.
