More roadside golden wattle in bloom. No wonder we have hayfever. It makes me sneeze just looking at this pic.

Tootling along the highway. We are back to the normal speed, thank goodness. This is the way we like it. Minimal traffic & everything going smoothly. Probably won't last long.

6 seconds more & we are passing them. Not a bad looking rig they have, too, but I would rather be in a car, especially in this cool weather. After all, it is winter.

The wire contraption slung across the highway is a wildlife safety highwire crossing for local wildlife such as koalas & possums. We saw several of these in this region. The emergency telephone sign's battery is solar-powered.

A closer view of a possum & koala highwire safety crossing. Apparently, not only do these help to save precious climbing wildlife from being squished while roaming but also aid gene diversification by allowing possums or koalas from other areas to get together.

Very interesting highway pic's Joy, all the different roadside views. Great to see the animal crossing wires, at least someone cares.
    Thanks for posting.

Thanks, BigBilly. There is also hundreds of kilometres of wildlife fencing along the roadsides in the forested areas, as well as the cute wildlife tunnels & bridge crossings. We have now travelled the full extent of the Pacific Highway without seeing one dead critter.

Wished these fences were on our local roads through the National Parks. It might reduce the death toll of our local wallabies & pademelons.

One of the many speed cameras on the Pacific highway but this one is right out in the open. Hope we didn't get a ticket.

A wildlife fence. There are hundreds of kilometres of such fencing along the Pacific Highway & its upgrades. The wire mesh is rather soft which, hopefully, discourages koalas from climbing it as they can't get a secure hold. That is also why the top is bent inwards. If a kangaroo, or wallaby, leapt onto the highway, with the speeds the cars are doing, the results would be very nasty for the car, its passengers & the kangaroo.

That is a large quarry up on the hill. Someone is moving bits of Australia around the place.

More golden wattle blooming. A-a-a-h tishoo!!! On the left can be seen white flowers which are another winter native shrub bloomer. They were also all the way along the Pacific Highway but not as plentiful as the wattle.

The wildlife fence is along the side of the road here. The same on the other side of the divided road.

Many golden wattles here. They are a popular roadside planting as they grow quickly & secure the soil.

Thanks for your photos Joy nice to see sunny Australia :) Do you see Koala's often or do they mostly stay hidden ? I mean, where you live or anywhere else, like when you are travelling.

Thank you, Dawn. :D Koalas are very particular about what species of eucalypts they will live in & dine upon. They don't go for just any old gum tree. :lol3: As they spend most of their time way up in tall gums, in the middle of many of them, the chances of seeing even one, is very remote when one is travelling at speed. They aren't a very big animal, either. All this is good, of course, because if we were to see one on the highway it was probably on its way to being squished. :o Not good. :sad3:

We do not have many gum trees around us where we live, just a few planted ones, so we do not see koalas just heaps of birds. Think there are some koalas in the Bundjalung National Park which commences on the southern edge of our town. A friend of Bruiser's lived in an area which had many of the eucalypts the koalas live in & on, & he had koalas living just outside his bedroom window. Said it became very noisy when lovelorn males came a'wooing.

The trip between Woodburn - Sydney - Woodburn continues. It is about four times the distance of the Pacific Highway to Brisbane, Qld, & return, so this trip will be longer with many more pics . :lol2:

Looks like farming country here. Think we are in or nearing the Mid North Coast. There are no signs to let you know.

Travelling through the countryside. Thank goodness for divided highways. Sure makes it safer but drivers still have to remain vigilant. There are always idiots around.
