Last week potatoes and peas were planted by my sons.

On March 13 and 14 one son and I planted the following:

    Broccoli
    Cauliflower
    Brussels Sprouts
    Green Cabbage
    Purple Cabbage
    Onion Sets
    Radishes
    Carrots
    Beets
    Spinach
    Lettuce

This is a huge start to the 2012 Missouri Garden.

This afternoon we got a nice rain shower.

Items that are left to plant are:

    Squash (yellow)
    Zucchini
    Cucumbers
    Peppers
    Tomatoes
    Sweet Potatoes
    Okra
    Green Beans
Corn (first time in many years)

Will get pictures as the items begin coming up.

What a fantastic start you have made to your 2012 garden, Glad. That would have taken a great deal of work for you both. At least the main preparation had been done last year & you now have a wonderful basis for a very productive veggie garden. Congratulations. :bravo:

Psst, Bruiser wants to know, are you planting jelly beans??

No but I can purchase some. Bunny rabbit candy is out in the stores now. I like the licorice jelly beans. But all jelly beans are full of sugar! Too much for me.

That is for sure, Glad. :lol3: But Bruiser loves them. His excuse is that he needs them for his hypoglycaemia bouts.

Someone suggested I plant some peanuts.

I might do that if I have the space.

We are running out of space.

Thank you so much Big Billy. We had a heavy rain this morning but sun is shining in our late afternoon. Windows are open allowing the nice warm breeze in the house.

Too wet to look for damage. No need to worry over "spilled milk" or in this case "heaven's furry".

Sure was big but some people got baseball size.

Oh dear, Glad. Hopefully there wasn't too much damage to your home or your garden. Am pleased you did not get the baseball-sized hail but what you did get would be bad enough & I did see one or two large lumps of hail on the ground.

I checked the garden late this afternoon....plants look rough but I think they will come out of it. The little seed sprouts got hurt so don't know about them. This is the chance you take when planting gardens. There is still time to replant if necessary.

Son will get up on roof of house when it dries enough to check for damage.

I went to work after the storm was over. On the way home several hours later there were still signs of hail in the ditches along side of the highway where lots of rain water had gathered.

It does sound like a nasty storm, Glad. Do so hope your plantings & seed sprouts have survived but as you say there is still time to replant if necessary. Also hope you will not be up for some expensive roof repairs.

It is amazing how long hail will stay about after a storm has passed.

Sorry to hear about the damage the hail did Glad. I hope it was not too serious a damage and easy to put right. What an awful thing to happen after your fantastic start this season.

It looks like the plants were hurt some but they are snapping back. Almost time for the cans to be removed.

Son and I planted beans yesterday. Will get tomatoes and pepper plants soon. Next Thursday I have to have a small place cut out off my forehead and sent to see if there is cancer cells in it. Would like to get the planting done before then because I can't get dirt in the area of the stitches.

That is good to hear that your garden is recovering form the hailstorm & that you are getting some more veggies planted. :D

Sorry to hear you are having to have a biopsy done on your forehead. Do hope the news will be good for you. Not only will you need to keep dirt out of the biopsy site but also the sun. All the best for next Thursday, Glad. :)

May be early but we did it anyway.

Tomatoes, peppers were planted late afternoon yesterday and today we planted a few zucchini, yellow squash, cucumber, and a new cucumber (yellow lemon). We will see if the seeds come up.

I wanted to get the above in the ground because did not know how long it would be before I could plant again after that removal of what ever it is on my forehead.

Son said he would cover everything if they call for frost around here.

Excellent thinking, Glad, plus it is good to get a head start. Your son does appear to be a very big help for you with your garden, too. Guess he enjoys eating the results. :lol3:
