Tried out my new camera on the "Vegas Lights" phlox today. They were really hammered by the steady rain we had earlier in the week but they seem to be bouncing back. They aren't, as yet, fully recovered but the new camera seems to be able to capture their colours so well, though they aren't as bright as usual.

This one is a cherry red which is hard to truly capture with a camera.

The "Vegas Lights" phlox are still flowering away, happily. :D Do love these flowers so we have bought two more packets of the seeds. They seem to be good quality seed as there is a good germination rate.

These images were taken during the past two days which are also the last two days of autumn.

They are very pretty . I can see the cherry colour in the ones you spoke of. They make a terrific display Joy! no wonder you bought two more packets. Congratulations on growing them from seed. This is motivating me to try some seed.

This is the second batch I have grown from seed Dawn. We love them. There are about three different shades of cherry which are the main colours. The other colours were quite a surprise the first time we grew them. There are even more colours in this batch of seed. :apgch:

They seem to do well here if I plant the seed around December which gives them the warmer weather to get them going & some cooler weather, later on, to keep them flowering. They have to be sown where they will grow as they don't like to be transplanted, apparently.

yes I remember your first batch , they do, do very well there. I tried some Namaqualand daisies when you mentioned your last batch of phlox. Thought I would try indigenous first. They came to nothing but I see the pot I used from last year have sprouted something this year from the seeds in there last year, it will be interesting to see what happens now.
