"Went to the hospital this morning, after a 2 hour wait my op was cancelled till the 14th."

    Sorry to hear this Billy.

No one likes winter, but isn't it great to see the birds coming to the feeders like this. It's been blowing the cold 'black' southeaster here today, which usually brings the rain, our poor wild birds are all being blown about the place. I saw one blown clean off the wash line pole :)
Wishing you well from CT !!

Good grief, Bigbilly, that is another long wait & so close to Christmas, too. All that fasting & hanging about, waiting, for nothing. Probably had to wait for the doctors to do their rounds to see if anyone was being discharged before they could admit you even though your bed would have been previously "booked". The old one-out-one-in story, eh?? It is a shame they don't think how all of this would affect people.

The webcam screen shots are great, BB. Thanks for posting them. The birds will really enjoy the food that is available for them in your garden. It is a shame Bruiser had to stop feeding the birds in our back yard due to "noise" complaints. The rainbow lorikeets are still turning up for a feed of seed. The one seed that none of the birds, here, will eat seems to be wheat as seeds which look like wheat seeds have been left, lying about, all over the ground.

Yes, it is sad, BIgBilly. It is also so silly, as we live in an area where there is plenty of bird noise & if they don't like such sounds then they are living in the wrong place. The main trouble was that the noise the rainbow lorikeets were making, at that time, was exacerbated by all their friends in the nearby ghost gum tree. So, it was happening regardless of whether Bruiser was feeding them or not.

What a really attractive pair, BigBilly. Are they getting ready to nest? Must be close to the time of the year for nesting.

Yes Joy, a lot of the birds are begining to pair up and the males are starting to sing.

My friend said he has a mallard duck sitting on eggs in his garden, but it is still very cold here. We have had sharp frosts for over a week now, with temps down to minus 6.

Just counted up over 30 birds of one sort or another lurking round the feeders and garden.

Wow, that's a terrific number of birds to be seen in your garden. They seem to know a good friendly spot when they see one, BigBilly.

Minus 6 is rather cold so I hope the duck manages to survive it to successfully brood. Most of the birds we have in our area mate for life. The Australian magpie is one that doesn't & when the young have fledged the female usually chases the male away a few days later. She considers him superfluous by this time. :lol3:

Terrific images, BigBilly. The birds are beautiful with their attractive plumage. They look to be very co-operative too. Our local birds would be fighting & squabbling for the best spot. :lol3:

Great shot of the little sparrow (?) on the hedge. Thank you, BB, for posting these pics. :D

Great bird pics Billy and this one is a delight to see, with all those colourful markings. Also really good to see the reed bunting, do you think he has visited the garden because of lack of food in the reed beds?

I think you are probably right about the bunting Dawn as because of very sharp frosts in this area we have had lots of birds to the feeders.

Glad to hear DH is making progress.

Also that you are up and running with both internet and camera.

What a lovely bird, BigBilly. Well spotted too. Would not be easy to get these shots, either, as I'd imagine it would be a little skittish & take fright easily. At least you wouldn't be shooting at it. :lol3:

It looks quite at home in your garden so hopefully it become a less unusual visitor. Thanks for posting these great pics.
