The third aechmea fasciata "Primera" bract almost looks as though it has barnacles on its stem. :)

One of the aechmea fasciata "Primera" bracts continues to flower. These flowers never seem to open up & remain as they are here until they die off.

The third aechmea fasciata "Primera" bract is growing well & looks good. Must remove last year's dead bract, that is if I can reach it.

Thanks Dawn. The brilliant pink bracts of the aechmea fasciata "Primera" will last for at least nine months but the blue flowers seem to only last for a few weeks although these seem to be lasting a bit longer. They don't ever open so must need some critter, looking for nectar & pollen, to open them rather like the flowers on the umbrella trees.

I am pleased to have three of these colourful displays at once.

It's so beautiful... It seem to look bulky, I guess it won't fit on my garden for now but I want that maybe sometime :)

It doesn't really take much room K, as they like to be squashed up together. That is several plants you can see in these pics above. They only need a smallish pot for its anchor roots as it doesn't obtain its nutrition from soil & it needs to be watered into its centre which is how it is fed. As it grows pups you will get several plants from one. All mine came from one large plant. Have seen pics of it growing in the wild along powerlines.
