It took a little while, but some of the flowers on this billbergia nutans "Queen's Tears" now have curled up petals. :bravo: This is one very unusual flower.

I did some research on the net after chatting to you the other day, and saw someone here selling these on gum tree I think it was. The post was 5 mths old so I don't have much hope of getting any. No one has returned my query yet so I think they have gone sigh! :sick2:

They might do well, in the ground, under a tree, or something, in your yard, Dawn. They can, apparently, be pretty well left to their own devices when in the ground. They are a very hardy plant, so "they" say.

I would only want one or two maybe. I think if I did ever manage to get any they would have to go in the shade house in a pot :??:

Billbergia nutans "Queen's Tears", in common with most epiphytic plants, only seem tp flower on new growth, Dawn. If you bought a plant it most probably has already flowered, unless you were able to buy young "pups". The older plant would then grow one, or more, offshoots (pups) which would later flower. This is another plant you only have to buy one of. :lol2: I bought TEN & gave away four, leaving me with SIX which have since had many, many pups. :O

Mine, now desperately, need to be repotted into larger pots to give them more room. Shame I don't have the room!! :lol!:

:D With some of them it is hard to even see the pot when they are in amongst the others. Makes it hard when you are watering them. I don't know whether I have hit the spot or not. :lol2: They are all crammed in together on the front patio.
