The Big Prawn at West Ballina. It was a busy truck & travelling public stopping place for food, petrol etc, until a "developer" bought it & kicked all the businesses out. Said he was going to build apartment blocks & would move the Big Prawn to another site. This has never happened, of course, & the whole site has sat there idle for ages, with the Big Prawn to be demolished.

Then the site went back on the market. Yippee, a national hardware chain bought the site for a new mega-hardware store & the Big Prawn is going to be refurbished & will become the feature front entrance for the store. :bravo:

So are we, Glad. :D Especially as it is going to get refurbished. The poor thing has faded over the years & it should have bright pink/red edgings around its scales. It looks more like a banana prawn instead of the eastern king prawn it is supposed to represent. :lol2:

Thank you, Pixie. :D Its fate is still not assured though, as the local mayor is known for his opposition to the Big Prawn & wants a pelican instead. :sheesh:
